Blizzard Bag Day 2

Dear Boys and Girls,

Good Morning!  Welcome to our second day of blizzard bags. This is what your day will look like. Remember to ask an adult to fill out the checklist as you complete tasks.

When you are done... GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY!!!

Math

1. Visit the Greg Tang website to play Kakooma puzzles for 20 minutes or on Prodigy Math
2. Complete the two sided logic puzzles in your folder, Day 2 green paper.

OR

If you are not connected to the internet or if you have lost power, work on:

1. the three worksheets that are in your blizzard bag.
2. the two sided logic puzzles in your folder, Day 2 green paper.

Literacy

Fluency practice

Read this poem Coasting Down the Hill aloud at least 4 times. Get the feeling of how the poem should sound in your head focusing on the rhythm and the rhyme. Once you feel comfortable reading it aloud, read it to another person at your house. (If your reading is not smooth and pleasant to hear, you must go back and practice by yourself again.) Be prepared to read it again once we return to school.   *For fun, try reading it with an accent (like a cowboy, an opera singer, a pirate, like you've just won the lottery etc.)

If you do not have access to the internet, you will find a copy of this poem in your folder, on green paper.  The directions are the same.

Writing

After reading the poem, “Coasting Down the Hill”, it’s your turn to write!
Look outside your window.  Describe the images you see using all your senses. You must write at least 5 sentences to describe your winter scene with at least 1 simile (comparisons using LIKE or AS) in your writing. This green writing sheet can be found in your folder.

Social Studies

If you have access to a computer...

Play the continents and ocean game on Mr. Nussbaum.  Watch the video and listen to the directions for how to play.  Write your score on the checklist, found in the folder.

AND

Visit PBSKids.com to play the State Stumper game. Join Wilson and Ditch, Digging America, as they help you discover the location of our 50 United States. When you finish, a time will appear for how long it took you to locate the states, write this final time on your checklist.

OR

If you do not have computer access...
